Counseling is more than an American phenomenon. It is a profession practiced in more than 40 countries and is growing worldwide. There is even an International Association of Counseling, which meets annually and brings together global representatives from different nations. This session will examine counseling, and counselor identity, internationally. It will look at the emphasis of counseling in different countries as well as educational systems and associations supportive of counselors in different countries. A compare-and-contrast approach to counseling as practiced internationally will be highlighted.
