The class introduces fire and EMS responders to the world of motor sports: the terminology used on the racing surface; personal protective equipment for racers and responders; the construction of the race vehicles and the challenges they present to responders, from the unique one-off builds of super modified asphalt cars to the converted street stock cars originally built as passenger cars in the 1980s and 1990s; and the tools responders should carry with them to expedite the removal of the occupants who may need our assistance.
