26 Jun 18
1:15 PM - 2:15 PM

Tracks: Building Operations and Management

An active shooter incident will unfold at lightning speed in terrifying conditions and will, on average, kill three and injure three more people. The deadly phase of an active shooter is over in 4-8 minutes – statistically, that’s before the police can arrive and deploy. This means your staff and tenants ARE the first responders. Are they prepared? Probably not. This session will show you the fatal flaws of your current response plans and how to address them. You’ll also learn to create plans, procedures and training programs for your emergency team, employees and tenants. Think it can’t happen to you? According to law enforcement, the number of active shooter incidents have quadrupled between 2013-2016, compared to the previous five-year average. Your team and your tenants need to be prepared.
