Learn to apply a computational thinking assessment tool in this hands-on workshop by designing, building, and programing your own robot. Develop skills in identifying and assessing computational thinking in your classroom. Participants will program LEDs, sensors, and motors with a micro:bit, Hummingbird robotics kit, and Birdblox (free app). All skills learned are transferable to other microcontrollers and programming languages. The workshop will also include examples of computational thinking across K-12 curriculum and launching points for designing your own lessons. Both the assessment tool and robotics kit were developed through NSF-funded research from 2005 to 2017. All skill levels are welcome, including absolute beginners.
