Future of EdTech Educator
In 1916, John Dewey argued that students could not learn how to be good citizens through lecture: Schools, he asserted, must become societies through which children could learn citizenship skills. Today, we are all members of vast and varied groups woven together by the digital communities we choose to join and engage in. However, schools rarely give students the same immersive experience in digital communities as they do in physical ones. Digital citizenship has different laws, rights, responsibilities, and norms; it requires us (and our students) to adopt whole new skill sets for participation. In this workshop, explore varied approaches to educating digital citizens and walk away with new mindsets, lessons, and ideas.
