Microgrids have transitioned from the conceptual stages to mainstream applications in many realms of distribution systems. As microgrid technologies and systems are gathering momentum in deployment and operation, there is a dire need for identifying enablers for increasing their efficiency and proliferation. This panel will discuss some emerging R&D solutions of such enablers including dispatch algorithms, controller technology, simulation models and testbeds, transactive market mechanisms and lessons learned from microgrid deployments in the developing world.
