Strengthening Effects and Processing Optimization of Niobium on High-Strength Rebar (Room 308)

The strengthening effects of Nb on low-carbon coil and plate have been widely studied and recognized, but strengthening effects of Nb on high-strength rebars have been taken for granted, and remained incomplete until some abnormal phenomena were presented recently. In this paper, existing stages and strengthening effects of Nb at different stages such as reheating, rolling and cooling have been studied systematically, both by lab analysis and in mass production validation. Strengthening mechanisms have been provided for bainitic structure and continuous yielding. Processing optimization has been carried out for Nb-bearing high-strengthening rebar, including HRB400E and HRB500E.
