Hydrogen’s negative effect on structural steels has been well documented. However, practical solutions that need to be understood and implemented in the production of structural steels are an area lacking information. Practical experience of how much hydrogen structural steel can tolerate prior to seeing hydrogen-related damage that affects producing a commercially acceptable product is not fully understood in many steel production facilities around the world. This paper will provide practical understanding and guidelines that are effective at addressing hydrogen-related issues in structural steels in the steel production environment.
