Tracks: Digital Transformation

This paper proposes to combine the already tested identity of things (IDoT) technology with material identification techniques and the incipient blockchain technology. This combination will allow for a more transparent and trustworthy traceability of manufactured products. IDoT allows gigantic volumes of data to be obtained from the machines involved in the manufacturing processes from any part of the world. Every raw material and finished product can be labeled with identification codes. When using this data on blockchain smart contracts and distributed ledgers mechanisms, it achieves a traceability that eliminates the human-to-human trust element and provides the complete transparency that machine-to-machine transactions provide.
