Combined drawing lines have existed for many years to enhance the dimensional tolerance of hot-rolled wire rod in coil. The drawing speed of this system – at 120-150 m/minute – is the system’s main limitation, together with the non-constant speed of the material through the drawing line, which can cause cut-to-length inaccuracies. Over the past 30 years, Danieli has developed drawing systems based on a chain-track drawing unit that replaces the traditional cam-based system, ensuring constant and very high drawing speeds of up to 400 m/minute.
