Digital Solutions for Modern and Efficient Ironmaking (Room 405)

This paper describes the approach to and the status of implementation of digital solutions at an ironmaking plant in Germany. These include L2 automation packages for sinter plant and blast furnace process optimization, deep learning with data-driven models, staves wear monitoring by smart sensors, production key performance indicator monitoring via mobile dashboards, condition-based predictive and prescriptive maintenance for tapping equipment and the slag granulation plant, as well as a digital twin of the blast furnace using virtual and augmented reality for the visualization of live data, alarms, etc., on a 360° tour through the plant.
