On-Line Adaptive Setup Model for 4-High Reversing Cold Rolling Mills at Ternium Mexico (Room 307)

This work shows the design and implementation of an online adaptive setup model for the 4-high reversing cold rolling mills at Ternium Mexico. The model setups the number of passes, thickness, entry and exit tensions, rolling force and speed, bending force and flatness target curve. The adaptive model improves the accuracy of the rolling force calculation, and the Monte Carlo method is used to get the reductions profile that minimizes rolling time. The model was successfully implemented in two installations and the results confirm an improvement of more than 2% in performance indicators.
