Experiences of a Global Electrical Manufacturing Enterprise: The Journey to Becoming Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Ready

This paper will present a case study outlining the experience of a global electrical power distribution and control manufacturer who recently made a significant investment to upgrade several electrical assembly facilities to leverage Industry 4.0, or the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The paper will outline details of the capital investment, decisions on systems and processes selected as most significant in the required communication upgrade, upgrades in cyber security, and emerging technologies deployed to assure critical systems were IIoT ready. Metrics outlining operational improvements following IIoT deployment and lessons learned after project completion will be reviewed.
