In order to keep themselves and their customers secure in our ever-evolving world of technology, it is crucial that organizations have access to skilled, trained cybersecurity practitioners. However, it is no secret that there is currently a significant shortage of these talented professionals. In response to this challenge, SANS launched the CyberTalent Immersion Academies in 2015, starting with the VetSuccess Academy. VetSuccess provides advanced technical training, industry-recognized certifications, and connections to jobs in cybersecurity for transitioning service members and recently retired veterans. The Academy is 100% scholarship-based for qualified participants with an aptitude for cybersecurity seeking to enter the field. The holistic mission of the Academy is to:

  • Assess and identify individuals with aptitude for cybersecurity
  • Select high-potential participants
  • Develop new talent
  • Train expertise and hands-on cybersecurity skills
  • Deploy graduates into the cybersecurity workforce

The Academy programs have grown significantly since the initial pilots in 2015. Join this breakout session to learn how the program works, past success, future plans, and opportunities for partnership.

Key Learnings Points:

  • How VetSuccess identifies, assesses, trains, certifies, and connects transitioning veterans with employers that have invested in the careers of veterans.
  • Demonstrating how technical cybersecurity skills and aptitude can be leveraged into great careers post transition, with leading companies and govt organizations.
  • Learn about the success of the VetSuccess program from its inception in 2015, to its current expansion in 2018 to future plans for 2019 and beyond.
