The biggest complaint about arc-rated and flame-resistant clothing has been that it’s uncomfortable – hot, heavy, stiff, scratchy and ugly. And, for decades, that was largely accurate. However, a major evolution has taken place over the past few years, and comfortable, stylish FRC is no longer an urban legend. Major advances in fibers, fabrics, garments and related technology have dramatically changed the game, while at the same time a large increase in brands, styles and women’s lines has occurred. The result is a greatly expanded selection of options, many of which are indistinguishable from everyday non-FR clothing in weight, feel, appearance and care. In this session, we’ll focus on these emerging technologies and how to harness them to create or improve wearer comfort and satisfaction in an FRC program.
