According to a 2018 report from the U.S. Department of Education, only 61 percent of households with school-age children have home internet access. However, 80 percent of eighth-graders reported using a computer at home for schoolwork on a weekday, putting students without home internet access at a significant disadvantage. Although there is no “silver bullet” that will address the challenges faced by these students, many schools and districts are finding creative solutions. In this session, we'll explore a variety of strategies school leaders can utilize, including how to work collaboratively with government agencies, local businesses, and other community anchor institutions to help bridge the digital divide.
