Since 2003, the Speak Up Research Project has reported on the authentic, unfiltered views and ideas of over 6 million K-12 students, parents, and educators on digital learning. A key takeaway is that today’s students have a clear vision about their preferences for learning. The average sixth-grader today is an almost perfect embodiment of this vision articulating a strong desire for learning experiences that are socially-based, untethered, and digital rich. But how well are our schools meeting the students’ expectations for new learning environments? In the session, we will share the top five things every school and district leader should know about today’s students and digital learning. Plan to be surprised!
