News stories and social media campaigns about parental concerns about screen time usage by their children is disrupting strategic digital initiatives in many K-12 districts. Education leaders are confused by the conflicting views of parents. Per the latest Speak Up research, 82 percent of parents say that digital learning is important for their child’s future success – but 64 percent also say that they worry about too much screen time. In this session, we will unpack current research on parents’ views on digital tool use by their children at home and at school and provide K-12 leaders with new insights and tools to address digital learning concerns in their local communities with more appropriate messages and real data.
