Tracks: Grow Your Business

Health and longevity are becoming increasingly top-of-mind for consumers. According to the Global Wellness Institute, $134 billion is spent globally on wellness real estate—environments that intentionally incorporate health-focused elements in their design. That translates to a growing opportunity for design-build professionals to leverage the wellness trend to not only help their clients achieve healthier spaces and lifestyles (Healthy Living Systems), but also to grow their businesses.

Two areas where designing for wellness can make a significant impact are the kitchen and bathroom. A healthy kitchen or bathroom is influenced by many factors, including materials used, design elements, and layout. Elements of wellness within these spaces include eco-friendly materials, natural light, proper air flow and ventilation, and avoidance of toxic cleaners and building products that off-gas VOCs. Indoor air quality is of paramount importance.

As homeowners become more educated about how building materials impact their health, the demand for healthier homes will continue to gain traction – bringing new opportunities for kitchen and bath professionals.

This session will share how to create kitchens and baths that are not only attractive and functional but that also promote wellness, resulting in a healthier (and safer) home for clients – and a healthier bottom line.
