Taste of Her Own Medicine: Kitchen Remodel Commiserating 101 (Room N228)

Tracks: Customer Service

Are you ready to step up your empathy game for kitchen remodel clients to make a more productive, positive experience? Stop thinking “Wow, my clients complain a bunch during the remodel process!” and start thinking “How can I be more empathetic in this situation?”

Interior designer and author Leslie Hart-Davidson, Allied Educator ASID experienced a “taste of her own medicine” scenario in the summer of 2018 when she undertook her own extensive kitchen remodel. Throughout the five month process, Leslie became well versed in the nuances of empathy for her own clients when she realized just how challenging living in the construction chaos could be.

This seminar will focus on four key areas of the kitchen design and remodel process that will teach the greatest opportunity for commiseration and empathy during the project: Design Therapy to discover the “why” motive of your client’s remodel, Purge Patrol to encourage downsizing and an embrace of their inner Marie Kondo, Chaos Cascade to minimize the domino effect of disruption during the remodel, and Structure Scares to educate your clients about potential unforeseen expenses and prevent a Love it or List it “How dare you ask us for more budget money, Hilary!” moment.
