11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Tracks: Lighting & Posing

Speaker(s): Ben Connolly
Have you ever wondered how to create those really interesting light-painting photos with light tubes, a Pixelstick or even some other homemade light-emitting device? Come and join Australian wedding photographer and light-painting enthusiast Ben Connolly for a creative "how to" session on light painting and night photos. Ben will demonstrate and pass around some cool light-painting items such as a Pixelstick, fiber optic whips, acrylic brushes and his own set of light tubes. Ben will cover the key points to creating engaging, colorful, yet technical light-painting photos on any wedding day or shoot such as camera settings, time of day to shoot, the items you can make at home and some amazing commercially available gear. Ben will also share a whole bunch of tips and tricks to add even more flare to your night photos with the use of overlays, speedlights, sparklers and other pyrotechnic items! (These items won't be demonstrated, for obvious reasons.) Ben will also discuss how and when to use these techniques in your client's experience with you and, most importantly, how to sell it to make the most of your new creative outlet. Ben will also be giving away a set of light tubes so that one attendee can get creative straightaway. You'll walk out with a whole new perspective and knowledge of what you can possibly create in the dark with a camera, a tripod and anything that emits light.
