P-card programs can be a gateway to trouble. Give too many people the key and who knows how much mischief they can unlock! But your p-card program shouldn't be that way and shouldn't stress you and your team out. P-cards are a great resource to allow efficient purchases, as long as you have the right controls and training in place to keep everyone on track. The City of La Mesa has a robust program that puts the power of the p-card into the hands of public works crews, police divisions and fire stations. This presentation will show what controls are in place, what resources are given to cardholders and how p-cards are allowing city staff to do their jobs without a mass of red tape.
