We all are living in an era where we have been affected by the COVID-19 virus in our workplaces. The pandemic has impacted us in the workforce and has silently forced us to embrace social change, virtual technological, and rapid economic change. Pressure is felt by all in today’s work environment in each of the aforementioned areas. In response to these stresses, often times there can be an elephant in the room which no one ever deals with or simply those conversations that are not had solely due to our inability to communicate them clearly with empathy and respect to one another. Have you ever found yourself sitting in a conference or meeting, whether it is live or virtual, and you want to ask an uncomfortable question but don’t? You may fear that you will open the floodgates of emotions to others around you. You think, “what is the point of asking when nothing will get done” or “if I raise it, it will be career limiting move.” Studies have shown that when communication improves, productivity improves. Consistency and a daily practice of company behavior policies are essential in molding a positive and productive workplace.
