Significant developments in pavement data collection technologies have taken place over the
past three years, and industry standards have not kept pace with technological advancements.
While these technologies may provide significantly better data than previous technologies, it is
critical that agencies understand the benefits and limitations of these technologies and how best
to procure them. This presentation will focus on 3-D pavement imaging, 3-D rutting, and mobile
LiDAR technologies. The incorporation of data collected with these technologies into existing
pavement management systems will be discussed. The presentation will also address how best
agencies may procure these technologies and QC/QA the results of pavement condition
surveys performed using them.
