2021 Environments for Aging

E28 - Maintaining Operations During Construction: A Case Study on Planning and Phasing (Room Meeting Room 12)

Renovations and new construction can be daunting, grappling with the financing, community and board buy-in as well as the disturbance to everyday life. Yet every facility will eventually require one or both for various reasons. So how is this accomplished while staying operational? This session will address maintaining a healthy environment for residents and staff and functional operations during construction and through move-in. Specific discussion topics will be provided through two case studies in different phases of the process: Cornerstone at Simpson House, which is completed, and Friends House, which is completing Phase 1 of a campus-wide redevelopment.
