Since its beginnings in 1974, triathlon has become a mainstream sport at every level: professional, collegiate, high school, and younger. The idea that the sport of triathlon is just for the pros or the young and uber fit has fallen by the wayside with more people testing the waters every year. While triathlon does attract those already physically fit, and those who love a challenge, the sport welcomes and accommodates the ordinary men and women who just want to try it on for size without much risk. With a distance and venue from the super short sprint to the Ironman long course distance, there’s a distance for everyone. And there’s always a post-race party, usually involving pizza and beer. “Dedicated, Not Serious” is our way of making lemonade out of lemons. Yes, we do a lot. We are committed to our training regardless of what the outcome might be. But taking ourselves too seriously has never been our style. We got into this to find a little fitness, to face a bit of a challenge, and to have some fun. Yes of course, there have been and will be hard days. That’s where the dedication comes in. And perhaps a bit of silliness — just to lighten the load.
