This engaging session compares safety to diversity and inclusion. In industry, we talk about safety every day, with an emphasis on improvement. The business case is clear: Improved safety makes us better and is the right thing to do. Similarly, advancing diversity and inclusion practices makes us better and is the right thing to do. Unfortunately, some employees shy away from addressing the need to make progress on diversity and inclusion, and leaders may not be comfortable discussing it. In this session, we’ll talk about the similarities between safety, diversity and inclusion; explore what it might take to make diversity “part of how we do business”; and identify resources leaders can use to advance themselves and their teams.
