Culture Change: Winning Hearts and Minds for Safety (Room 26 AB)

Culture change is a necessity to move from sketchy safety to high reliability. Although we know what a “high-reliability organization” does, and that we must “win hearts and minds” to get there, no methodical process has been identified or taught to achieve culture change. This session will detail the target of high reliability as well as the science of culture change. It will provide a clear, defined process to achieve it in a sustainable, actionable manner that enables personal engagement and empowerment. Through the use of the counterinsurgency theory developed by military leaders to change cultures in hostile areas to prevent violence, as well as doctoral research, you’ll learn how to win hearts and minds for safety.
