Employers often attempt to address individual issues through organizational systems improvements. Tools such as the Hierarchy of Controls and safety management systems have specific functions but typically don’t address individual safety concerns. The solution: understanding the impact of human factors. This session will demonstrate how the interactions of a human factors framework model can be used for a holistic approach to safety. We’ll identify common challenges associated with human factors – from both individuals and organizations – and discuss the impact human factors can have on overall outcome reliability in the areas of safety, performance, employee engagement and culture.
