The COVID-19 pandemic shifted employer/worker relationships and has required reevaluation of worker needs – including mental and physical health issues – in addition to traditional safety and health protections. The workplace and workforce are changing, with increasing focus on the employer’s role in Total Worker Health. TWH, a NIOSH initiative, also intersects with effective programs on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as environmental, social and governance. These benefit the company, its most essential human resources, its community and even shareholders. TWH initiative is a starting point, and new consensus standards can help guide program development. During this session, we’ll discuss how to effectively partner safety and HR, prepare for the future of the workforce, and implement TWH programs that reflect sound DEI and ESG values.
