Increased levels of stress, uncertainty and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic have contributed to an increase in substance misuse and mental health struggles. This has left employers and employees facing what has been called the “twin pandemic” of COVID-19 and opioid overdoses. The National Safety Council surveyed its members to learn more about employee substance misuse (employee assistance program usage, substance misuse rates and substance use changes related to the pandemic) and employee mental health (EAP usage, mental health and pandemic-related stress). In this session, you’ll learn about mental health and substance use changes brought on by the pandemic, as well as emerging best practices to address these issues.
