Impairment at work – whether from fatigue, mental distress, substance use or other factors – is an issue that employers should address to ensure workers are healthy and fit for duty. To help employers and workplace safety professionals address impairment holistically, the National Safety Council is defining what workplace impairment encompasses and solutions to address it. This session will discuss the scope of workplace impairment and narrow in on two impactful solutions: impairment detection technologies and supervisor training. You’ll learn about current research and resources available for both of these interventions, including the new NSC training, Impairment Recognition and Response Training for Supervisors.
