As the economy recovers from the pandemic, global steel demand is high, supplies are limited, and material and energy costs are rising. To remain competitive, steel producers must find ways to increase output, increase safety and reduce environmental impact. Vibration slag detection helps steel mills meet their objectives. When this technology is properly implemented, improved efficiencies increase yield and decrease environmental impact. This paper will provide examples of production improvements attributed to comprehensive vibration slag detection implementation over the past two decades. It will examine the modern evolution of vibration slag detection, its role today and its future.
