A Practical Analysis of Benefits of AC Drives Over DC Drives in Cold Rolling Mills (Room 307)

This paper presents a practical study to document the direct and indirect benefits of AC drives over DC drives in cold rolling mills, including energy, efficiency, power quality, uptime, productivity and manpower. The study is based on practical data collected, compared and analyzed both pre- and post-upgrade of a 4-high cold mill.
