Investigation on the Cleanliness Control Technology of Martensitic Gas Valve Steel

To improve cleanliness of martensitic gas valve steel, inclusions in steel were systematically investigated by the automatic inclusion analyzer. It was found that serious defects caused by inclusion are mainly attributed to unreasonable structure of tundish and weak ability of absorbing inclusions of the slag in ladle and tundish. A new type of ladle slag and tundish slag were developed. Results indicated that the reject ratio of gas valve steel caused by inclusions was largely decreased from 22% to 3%.
