Sustainable Steel Production by Integration of Induction Furnaces (Room 320)

For steel producers aiming for significant reduction of dust and gaseous emissions: (1) Induction furnaces are not only CO2-neutral, but also emit minimal slag, dust as well as NOx, SOx and CO, proven by recent field measurements. (2) Their share in global steel production doubled over the last decade. (3) Nowadays, tap-to-tap times below 35 minutes and outputs of up to 800,000 tons/year are reliably achievable. (4) The minimal conversion cost and yields of >98% offer attractive use cases and potentials for integration into current and future production routes. These integration paths will be focused.
