Software for Dimensional and Wear Control of Lance Tip Face and Nozzles - WRL (Room 318)

The lance tip and the nozzles contained in them are largely responsible for primary refining steels in basic oxygen furnaces. Over the lance life, they wear out. They demand inspections and an active look at their effects on metallurgical heat parameters and operational safety, avoiding water leaks. Based on image collection and analysis, the development of software called WRL is capable of carrying out current measurements of the lance tip face and nozzles and determining the main dimensions variations, evaluating the wear severity. Inspection times of lance currently in hours are now minutes and with greater precision and speed in interpreting information.
