How 3D Laser Scan Is Adding Value and Performance to Refractory Lining Inside the Steel Industry (Room 408)

In order to meet steel industry demands related to safety and performance increasing, refractory suppliers are continuously challenged to develop innovative and integrated solutions to fulfill customers’ needs. This paper aims to present the new portable 3D laser scanning technology that is being used to add a new concept for refractory linings inspection in several steel equipment – during hot conditions and after campaign. Blast furnace runner campaign has enhanced its performance by 15%, steel ladle campaigns are now constantly monitored during hot measures and refractory post-mortem analysis are being performed with high accuracy by this new methodology.
