In order to increase the availability and safety and reduce the maintenance of its 120-mton electric arc furnace (EAF), Optimus Steel decided to replace its tubular EAF roof and elbow with a Systems Spray-Cooled roof and elbow. The 2021 turnkey project includes a first-ever Spray-Cooled gravity-drained EAF roof and elbow and includes modifying the gantry to replace the existing 4-point long gantry arms with new, shorter, 2-point cantilever roof arms, as well as the design, supply, and installation of all conversion piping and required infrastructure changes. This project is expected to be the first phase of a multi-phase meltshop upgrade.
