Structural Analysis and Failure Prediction of Direct Reduced Iron (Room 308)

In this work, a comprehensive study of the internal structure of commercially produced direct reduced iron (DRI) is considered. Utilizing high-resolution Micro-CT analysis, this study aims to link structural features and defects to their effect on the ultimate compressive strength and failure of DRI. Specific structural features and defects may therefore be incorporated into existing predictions of the compressive strengths of DRI based on computed stiffness values from semi-non-destructive cyclic load tests.
