The presented robotic cell is a smart solution by Polytec that allows for the cutting, removal and breaking of the steel strap used in the binding process of the cut coils entering the electric resistance-welded tube mill. A 3D computer vision system can identify with high precision the position of the strap and the start of the coil to identify the best cutting position in order to avoid any damage of the external surface of the coil. This automated solution allows for complete operator safety in the production process.
