Integrated Temperature Model for Superior Hot Strip Production – First Results From SDI Sinton (Room 306)

In an effort to improve hot rolling process models, prediction accuracy, and technological control performance efficiency a new cross-functional model, meta model, takes an integrated temperature approach. Hot rolling involves various consecutive process steps, which affects the mechanical properties of the product; for example, yield strength, tensile strength and low-temperature behavior. The result of the rolling process is influenced by the chemical composition of the steel and the temperature guidance during rolling. This new development is part of the new Steel Dynamics Inc. - Flat Roll Group Southwest-Sinton Division plant being commissioned in 2022, and future-oriented concepts and latest results from commissioning will be presented.
