Maintaining the tundish superheat in a certain temperature range is essential for the stability of the continuous casting process, quality of the casted product and the caster productivity. The final adjustment of the steel temperature in the ladle at the last station of the secondary refinement process is therefore key for adjusting the tundish superheat. In the present work, the temperature loss was modeled based on secondary refinement parameters, ladle condition and casting parameters using various machine-learning techniques. Moreover, the model was integrated as a real-time calculation in the level 2 on-line process control system.
