ProcessXpert: A New Generation of Knowledge-Based Blast Furnace Expert System

ProcessXpert is a knowledge-based blast furnace process optimization model for continuous monitoring of blast furnace operation. This model is built based on the SACHEM expert system, using proven expertise of more than 30 years of experiences. The model provides multiple phenomena detection. On top of phenomena detection, the model provides hot metal temperature and silicon prediction for short- and mid-term horizon and appropriate fuel rate recommendation, with possible combination of machine-learning approaches. The present paper highlights the advantages and the recent developments on the ProcessXpert model, which is a part of Paul Wurth’s level 2 solution – BFXpert™.
