There are many high-temperature steel applications where low-carbon alternative fuels could be used, including, but not limited to, reheat furnaces, ladle heating and processing lines. While many are looking at hydrogen as a potential low-carbon alternative fuel to use for industrial heating, there are other options available to reduce the amount of CO2 being released. Some of these other reduction options include switching to biofuels, the use of efficiency increasing technology such as regenerative burners, or moving from direct combustion to electric heating.
