Effect of Deformation on Spheroidization of Pearlitic Steels Produced in Hot Strip Mills (Room 310)

The present work explores role of deformation during hot rolling and its role in cold forming and spheroidization during annealing. It is revealed that proper design of hot rolling can increase cold reduction of pearlite steels and reduce time required for spheroidization by about 50%. The deformation helps in obtaining not only refined microstructure but also partially spheroidized or non-lamellar pearlite. The non-lamellar cementite is further refined during cold reduction and hence rapid spheroidization.
