Gearboxes are vital components in metals processing facilities and their performance is influenced by many factors. These include installation, condition monitoring, lubrication system maintenance and inspections. In addition, performance can be improved through the repair process by identifying and addressing primary damage modes. This paper will discuss common issues and guidelines to improve reliability throughout the life of the gearbox.
