Battery Electric Vehicles and the Future Ahead
Powder coating is positioned for a resurgence as new application opportunities present themselves in automotive architectures. This presentation will delve into the specific applications and technology requirements of many of these components and focus on the key benefits for each of the battery system applications. The growth of electrification will also have clear implications for advancing technology specifically impacting environmental compliance, energy consumption and overall performance, which will also lead to why powder coating is best considered for these new areas of the vehicle. The speaker will explore a brief history of powder coating and the extraordinary successes. So why hasn’t powder experienced the growth or use as a mainstream coating technology as compared to liquid? More importantly, why is that about to change?

Powder - The Sustainable Choice for Corrosion Protection
Liquid coatings have traditionally been the go-to system for long term corrosion protection. But with performance advancements and growing environmental concerns, powder is quickly becoming the technology of choice for many manufacturers. This session will begin with a basic overview of powder, application techniques and chemistries, followed by the powder systems and technologies which will offer the best corrosion performance, including powder’s place within ISO 12944. Finally, a review on how powder compares to liquid in sustainability, performance, and cost.
