F137: Digital Factory: Simulation & Visualization to Predict Production's Future (Room S402A)

*This conference session requires registration and payment.

The Digital Factory - From Data Extraction to Visualization, and Beyond
Industry 4.0 has created the next level of manufacturing, transforming people, processes, and smart machines into the Digital Factory. The goal is to optimize manufacturing, and the environment around it, using data as the information beacon to help make smarter decisions, faster! The presenter will speak on the necessary steps to create, manage, and optimize a Digital Factory. Additionally, examples will show where companies have demonstrated enormous turnarounds using the most basic machine monitoring and data collection tools as well as more advanced holistic efforts for overall productivity. According to the World Economic Forum, only 62% of the global manufacturers have digitized one product line, leaving an enormous opportunity for growth.

Digital Twin for Your Shop Floor: Using Simulation to Predict Production's Future
In their attempts to improve On-Time Delivery and Throughput, most manufacturers struggle with traditional Finite Capacity Scheduling. One of the main reasons is that the generated "schedule" does not reflect the order in which production will be prioritized and executed on the shop floor. The purpose of this presentation is to educate the audience on how to create a Digital Twin of their production environment, and running a simulator to predict their future production reality based upon how they will execute and prioritize production out on the shop floor. The resulting Digital Twin can then be used to show future load vs capacity, bottlenecks, personnel requirements, material shortages and more.
