The advent of quantum computing represents both a technological leap and a looming security challenge for the IoT industry. As NIST solidifies its quantum-safe cryptographic standards (FIPS-203, 204, 205, 206), organizations face an urgent need to prepare for Y2Q or Q-day—when widely used encryption algorithms like RSA may be rendered obsolete. Governments, regulatory bodies and standards are now requiring IoT device builders and operators to implement these quantum-safe cryptographic standards.
